The night was a huge success and a fantastic way to celebrate the end of the year with a bang. <br /><br />The guest speaker for the event was Anthony Breslin, who has also been facilitating the Year 9 Mural Project at the East Campus. His ongoing collaboration with ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵapp has allowed us to provide meaningful opportunities for our students to witness professional artmaking. <br /><br />Anthony was also asked to select a Guest Speaker award on the night; one artwork which he felt was outstanding and demonstrated creativity and high technical competence. I am excited to announce that the recipient for this award is<b><i> Jackson Robenn</i></b>&nbsp;for his Cubist inspired artwork completed in Year 9 Sculpture. Congratulations to Jackson for this achievement! <br /><br />I would also like to congratulate all of our award winners in Years 7, 8 and 9! Congratulations as well to all exhibiting students whose work was on display! The quality of work presented this year, as always impressed all. We, as a teaching team are so lucky to be able to teach and work with so many talented young artists! <br /><br />As always thank you to all the staff and students who have worked tirelessly to make both our Art Shows successful. Thank you to the East Campus Visual Arts team Emma Butler, Maria Garcia, Tracy Griffith and Lynton Perry, as well as our Year 7 teachers Rebecca Johnson, Raphaella Roden, Jessica Rogosic and Katherine Sip. <br /><br />We still have one project to look forward to this year; the completion of the Year 9 Mural which will be installed in the near future. Keep an eye out for news regarding the installation of this artwork! <br /><br /><b><i>Peter Eglezos <br />Learning Area Manager for the Visual Arts</i></b>&nbsp;<div><br /> Check out our photo gallery:<br /> <br /> <iframe frameborder="0" height="600" src="https://drive.google.com/embeddedfolderview?id=18R9Y9eGc8iuugDdN2eeaBXRql8_WMbKp#grid" width="800"></iframe> </div>McKinnon SChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02927787866788452774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2032115987263572446.post-89345780475370254372023-11-30T21:05:00.005+11:002023-11-30T21:05:53.943+11:00Connor Scott (Class of 2013) - 50km for 50 days! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVezOjWlLhKD7po1u-vUzWmkAGiCAdkmA8bG13rq2rL0z_RYXNfEkejnCQb78X7VvKlBfv9JZH3PQuFPlsTl0TbDt_0y8JQJcHVzbbFBtO890H_EfyiI_sWM7S2M5t1qh-3gm8btFPwzZAfUs4G7OSM5IGso5mk1k2K_Jq_SxKoeSOdplc0d0f5XIQuUM/s512/unnamed-7.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="371" data-original-width="512" height="232" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVezOjWlLhKD7po1u-vUzWmkAGiCAdkmA8bG13rq2rL0z_RYXNfEkejnCQb78X7VvKlBfv9JZH3PQuFPlsTl0TbDt_0y8JQJcHVzbbFBtO890H_EfyiI_sWM7S2M5t1qh-3gm8btFPwzZAfUs4G7OSM5IGso5mk1k2K_Jq_SxKoeSOdplc0d0f5XIQuUM/s320/unnamed-7.png" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Connor Scott (Class of 2013) - 50km for 50 days! Known for his eclectic and evocative style, he spoke to our students about an exciting upcoming project. &nbsp;</p><p style="text-align: justify;">As our first 2-year graduating cohort of East Campus, during their final weeks on campus, our students will be mentored by Anthony as artist-in-residence with our own Art team, to create a large-scale art mural next to the East Campus outdoor basketball courts. &nbsp;</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Inspired playfully by the notion of Wisdom and Service, a visual narrative incorporating Anthony’s iconic characters such as bugs, flowers and hearts will be created from 3D canvases of various sizes for the students to personalise. The finished piece will see these works applied over the exterior wall, coming together in a captivating scene to reflect McKinnon’s creative voices and aspirations. We are incredibly proud of our students and the Year 9s will be remembered for years to come as the first students to experience two years at East Campus.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">I would like to thank Anthony Breslin and his team for creating this special opportunity for our Year 9 students. I’d also like to thank Peter Quinn, our Facilities team, Peter Eglezos and our Art team, as well as our Year 9 Student Managers, particularly Melinda Howard for facilitating this project during a busy time. Presented by ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵapp. <br /><br />It has been estimated that of the world’s 8 billion people, a record-breaking 1.4 billion, or 18 percent, are currently grandparents. In 2018, Australian grandparents clocked up an average of 58 childcare hours per month, worth $3.94 billion annually.<br /><br />Grandparents make a significant contribution to Australian families, but many new grandparents can feel deficient and unsupported in their role and are unsure how to approach it.<br /><br />This talk explores the 20 most important rules for every stage of the grandparenting journey from one of Australia’s most respected child and adolescent psychologists. This event is an opportunity to celebrate the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren.<br /><br />Please RSVP by clicking the following link: <a href="https://www.trybooking.com/CNFZP"><b>https://www.trybooking.com/CNFZP</b></a>&nbsp;to ensure your spot at this event or scan the QR code to access your FREE ticket.<div><br /></div><div><b>WHEN:</b>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Tuesday 5th December</div><div><b>TIME:</b>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; 7pm - 8pm</div><div><b>LOCATION:</b> ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵapp, McKinnon Road Campus assembly hall<br /><div><br /><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHUy7SUT3i0bS9FFZ4X3qRl05s382iLzU6FNOfoaww-FuFkubEVv-Hljx9qH3loOq2mGNf7T6Jn6Rb1e4RBiDoQPIjFsd3V88nLl-nnAUS4wlnVeZPdhuDzL08UpciOafswWjJaQWTu5dEntLcgptTbFMTV0LBeCJVzvUgPi21D9-ECiGDnMF96QhU98A/s2000/TheGrandparentingCodeFinal.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1414" data-original-width="2000" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHUy7SUT3i0bS9FFZ4X3qRl05s382iLzU6FNOfoaww-FuFkubEVv-Hljx9qH3loOq2mGNf7T6Jn6Rb1e4RBiDoQPIjFsd3V88nLl-nnAUS4wlnVeZPdhuDzL08UpciOafswWjJaQWTu5dEntLcgptTbFMTV0LBeCJVzvUgPi21D9-ECiGDnMF96QhU98A/w400-h283/TheGrandparentingCodeFinal.png" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div></div></div>McKinnon SChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02927787866788452774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2032115987263572446.post-63462804052735102492023-11-09T15:35:00.004+11:002023-11-09T15:35:37.879+11:00ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵapp - Issue 17<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiDm_wn1IcF7afj-4PirUYDv104BecWMZAESMejxq1Lrug-Z83doIHr5lMXgSxVudSxa3C-sAl0wZvN0yYZhqoGVRepJNsa5k9qvhG86g2ZbbhbnY5m8Ym4uxS1_21LsyMqIA1m_RR48W7pA3wdP7WHIaEuH3fHJFVYeYH3RkKK397DPtbn00bwlAWmG8/s1080/McKinnon%20NEWS.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiDm_wn1IcF7afj-4PirUYDv104BecWMZAESMejxq1Lrug-Z83doIHr5lMXgSxVudSxa3C-sAl0wZvN0yYZhqoGVRepJNsa5k9qvhG86g2ZbbhbnY5m8Ym4uxS1_21LsyMqIA1m_RR48W7pA3wdP7WHIaEuH3fHJFVYeYH3RkKK397DPtbn00bwlAWmG8/s320/McKinnon%20NEWS.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Read the latest issue of ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵapp&nbsp;<a href="https://newsletters.naavi.com/i/O5gqXZJ">here!</a></div><br /> <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://newsletters.naavi.com/i/O5gqXZJ" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1512" data-original-width="1744" height="346" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu0luhembOWjpRyNa5mp429P3kFmnyE27tcNTTG5j4JtyDaN1be35X_ZRhFA3LTkROyLvhMg79utU3CKWmVw0mAP4V2SMQ68i24NQXf_9eOAZljQMitRl0LQ0nHP0fXPWlbkCN9eLGsnjFlgsfEvwoTvqflY50snShFa3SN2GwZZWmr8ts9DyEGwlvxrQ/w400-h346/Screen%20Shot%202023-11-09%20at%203.34.19%20pm.png" width="400" /></a></div><br />McKinnon SChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02927787866788452774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2032115987263572446.post-3934337775206090682023-11-01T17:06:00.009+11:002023-11-01T17:06:54.106+11:00Year 7 and Year 8 Cricket Success<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit6faEvBxtCJc9ZeQhtjLnUSaAPsTwPDRZzuqJFDs6T8rrzdrT7tNSKZ-CpevQWN3iFldzFHqJAXjKFzc__fnM-qPSnvgV-AxssWg-u9opLLBlKxE5aZZHkWTzyNbV2fNVeFDToOZT7dmMmelpT9YOeh1gf_U4XWYPgQ1fJUW0TS2A9OQq0IZKPMCLy_g/s2662/image_50726913.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2662" data-original-width="2662" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit6faEvBxtCJc9ZeQhtjLnUSaAPsTwPDRZzuqJFDs6T8rrzdrT7tNSKZ-CpevQWN3iFldzFHqJAXjKFzc__fnM-qPSnvgV-AxssWg-u9opLLBlKxE5aZZHkWTzyNbV2fNVeFDToOZT7dmMmelpT9YOeh1gf_U4XWYPgQ1fJUW0TS2A9OQq0IZKPMCLy_g/s320/image_50726913.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The Year 7 cricket team were set to repeat the current Year 8's work from last year and become the SMR Champions for 2023. A great bowling display by a few individuals set the tone for the match by keeping Dromana to 95 runs total. Through an excellent early performance from the top order of batsmen allowed McKinnon to chase down the total with 5 overs to spare in the innings. Students were able to set up food stalls like Mango Lassi, Falafels and Haman Teshan. Year 7 students enjoyed Greek dancing and the East Campus students participated in ‘Zorba Till You Drop’.&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">An Origami workshop was hosted to practise this amazing Japanese artform and some of our school’s Spanish and Chinese singers sang traditional songs and did some fun karaoke. Bharatanatyam was performed by Year 7 and 8 dancers.&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">One activity loved by so many students was the Henna hand painting. And lastly, self-defence professionals came over to teach Year 8 students some martial arts.&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">This has been an incredible event that provided the opportunity to make new friendships and foster greater understanding and appreciation of different cultures.&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Thank you to all the staff involved and I would like to particularly acknowledge Rekha Nayyar for her dedication in putting together this incredible week of inclusive celebrations&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b><i>Michael Kan&nbsp;</i></b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b><i>Principal</i></b></div><div><br /></div><br /><br /> Check out our photo gallery:<br /> <br /> <iframe frameborder="0" height="600" src="https://drive.google.com/embeddedfolderview?id=15Lp1f8IoTwfS3CxvqNjIANYF-6neLQoF#grid" width="800"></iframe> McKinnon SChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02927787866788452774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2032115987263572446.post-35428158320633049182023-09-13T18:14:00.003+10:002023-09-13T18:15:15.179+10:00Year 12 Music Night<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7V6jdb2CF2-Rh-gXoT1HcU0AkLHmGFgyCmzBwjhmBqgbaBk52-L-zmpn-kWlWjJnBVVXabnK5MQ86a_T7q_u_YHMGccZkXtHebnvyc3t9umpVr95iQUNTPxpmUxxeEIZRCCe3anhtwP1-yw2vqZAMnudxTeYxcrFzGA75zMIGxRVZ_yDZI1-1XDKZjIo/s6000/051A0835.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="6000" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7V6jdb2CF2-Rh-gXoT1HcU0AkLHmGFgyCmzBwjhmBqgbaBk52-L-zmpn-kWlWjJnBVVXabnK5MQ86a_T7q_u_YHMGccZkXtHebnvyc3t9umpVr95iQUNTPxpmUxxeEIZRCCe3anhtwP1-yw2vqZAMnudxTeYxcrFzGA75zMIGxRVZ_yDZI1-1XDKZjIo/s320/051A0835.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div>Congratulations to all the year 12 students involved in the year 12 music night. <br /><br />The dedication and commitment to your music is impressive. The Portsea camp's educators and staff were friendly and fed Mckinnon students the tastiest meals ever! There were nighttime activities that we really enjoyed. They were a movie night and a trivia night.<br /><br />The dorms were great to hang out with our friends and the ocean views were lovely. We had the opportunity to visit the beach, have a stroll along the shore, and take in the fresh sea air! There were so many enjoyable things to do there for us to pass the time. I loved the year 10’s camp this year because it left everyone completely stunned.
